Christmas Cookies!
The last two days Sara have been busy baking cookies! They are so good! My favorites are the ones with white chocolate chips and raspberry, they are unbelievable! It is really hard to keep away from them...
On Saturday me and Sara are going for brunch and cookie exchange, with the 'scrap booking-group' so we will come home with eight different kinds of cookies. I am quite excited ;-)

Presentation about Denmark
Yesterday in school I did a presentation about Denmark. I did it in my humanities class(English/history). I talked about danish food, the royal family, H.C. Andersen, politics, school system etc. It was fun to see people's reactions while I was talking. I think the fact that Denmark have free healthcare and universities made an impression on many.
I hope I will get a chance to do a presentation in my other classes next semester.

Dipping our feet in the Golf of Mexico
Saturday December 1. we where still in Houston, so we went to Galveston Beach by the Golf of Mexico. Me and Nico was running around in the water and got all wet. It was really fun though! It was around 27 Degrees Celsius and there where palm trees everywhere. It really felt like summer! But then in the car we listened to Christmas music and got reminded that it was December 1. It was a little weird...

NASA-space center
Yesterday we arrived in Houston, Texas where Brian's work is located. Today he had to work, so me Nico and Sara went to the space center NASA. We heard a real astronaut speak and touched a real moonstone. We also saw a huge spacecraft that had been around the moon and a control center where they communicate with astronauts in space.
I was so impressed!
We learned about how it is to be in space. I have to say, It' s not a luxury vacation, even though it would be cool to fly around in the air! One example is that they have to recycle their urine and use it as water. When you are in 0 gravity you also loose a lot of muscle mass so they have to exercise 2 hours everyday.
Today was really interesting and very fascinating, and now I can say that I met an astronaut!

Christmas lights in Denver

Cross Country Banquet
Igår mødtes hele cross country holdet for sidste gang til The banquet.
(Især her oppe i bjergene!).

The presidential election
Last Tuesday it was time for the presidential election. It was exciting! Since I came here 3 months ago I could definitely feel the election coming, especially because Colorado was a swing-state which means that it wasn't curtain if Romney or Obama would win the state. In Tv there have been A LOT of commercials and campaigns trying to convince us what is best for America. There have been big posters in the street. Both Mitt Romney, Barack Obama and and Michelle Obama have been in Colorado to speak. And in general people have been talking and discussing about it. Some of the big topics that people usually had very strong opinions about was abortion, gay marriage and Obama Care. It have been discussed many times during lunch!
On my school we had a mock election to see who we would vote for. Most people voted for Mitt Romney because we live in a quite republican area.
It have been very interesting to be in America during an election and I will never forget when we went to see Obama!

Visiting "The North Pole"
Tuesday on the Election Day me and Nico was off school, so we went to a place called "The North Pole". It was an amusement park all about Christmas. It was like a little Christmas town in the mountains. Off course we visited Santa and then me and Nico went on a couple of rides that made me very dizzy! Everything about the little "town" was so cute and really made us in the Christmas mood. But in the end we went in to a kind of "ghost house". On the outside it looked very cute, but when we went inside it was the scariest haunted house ever! It was so weird that it was placed in the middle of such a cute Christmas town... After walking through that house and trying all the roller coasters that made us dizzy, we where ready to go home ;)
Btw. I have found out that in America Christmas begins in the 1. November, a month before it begins in Denmark... Two months of Christmas.. Why not? I really enjoy it!

A day after my birthday I brought Piratos(danish black licorice) to school. It was really fun.. For me at least ;) The people in my classes were really interested in it and wanted to try it, but when I gave them a piece and they smelled it, they

President Barack Obama
On my birthday we went to Denver to see Obama speak in Denver's City Park. I was so excited! We were waiting in line for a long time and had to go through some security like in the airport. There was security guards from Secret Service everywhere. When we got into the park, we stood on a hill, so we had a good view. Obama came on the stage and people started shouting and cheering. He spoke in around 25 minutes and it was actually kind of touching. Everybody was so nice to each other. Obama's speech was really good and it felt almost unrealistic that I could see and hear the president of the United States in real life. It was a great experience that I will never forget!!!

Even though there was tons of people, Me and Selina managed to find each other. |

Trick or treat!
Last Wednesday it was Halloween! Nico and I was dressed up as police officers, Brian was a judge, and Sara and the two dogs where prisoners. Unfortunately Nico got sick right after school, so he couldn't go 'trick or treating'. Poor little boy, you are really not feeling well if you are 8 years old and says no to 'trick or treating'!
Well, I went 'trick or treating' with some of the other small kids in the neighborhood. It was really fun, and I found out that there is quite a few students from my high school living in my neighborhood or right down the street..!
By the end of the night I was really tired from running from house to house, butI had a full bag of candy!

Halloween party
Saturday before Halloween I went to a Halloween party at a German exchange student's house. We ate a lot of weird looking snacks and of course we carved pumpkins!
Unforgettable birthday!
Wednesday last week it was my birthday! We where going to see president Barack Obama, so I got to skip school. When I woke up in the morning Nico came to my room with a bowl of cereal because he wanted to give me breakfast in bed. After that I skyped with my Danish family. Then I opened all my presents. The days up to my birthday I had got quite a few letters and packages sent from Denmark. I got Pirtatos(black licorice), a Danish CD, knitted socks from my grandmother and other Danish things. From my host parents I got a purse from Vera Bradley. Then we went to see Obama(I will write about that in my next post). After that we went to 'Big Fat Cupcake' and bought birthday cupcakes. In the evening Sara and Brian had invited me out to eat. We went to a Chinese restaurant with habaji which is where the cook is cooking the food in front of you. The cook was so funny and made Nico and I laugh all the time! The servers gave us dessert and sang birthday song for me(that is very common here)! It was an amazing birthday that I will never forget!

In the school's newspaper
