Trick or treat!

Last Wednesday it was Halloween! Nico and I was dressed up as police officers, Brian was a judge, and Sara and the two dogs where prisoners. Unfortunately Nico got sick right after school, so he couldn't go 'trick or treating'. Poor little boy, you are really not feeling well if you are 8 years old and says no to 'trick or treating'!
Well, I went 'trick or treating' with some of the other small kids in the neighborhood. It was really fun, and I found out that there is quite a few students from my high school living in my neighborhood or right down the street..!
By the end of the night I was really tired from running from house to house, butI had a full bag of candy!

Halloween party

Saturday before Halloween I went to a Halloween party at a German exchange student's house. We ate a lot of weird looking snacks and of course we carved pumpkins!

Unforgettable birthday!

Wednesday last week it was my birthday! We where going to see president Barack Obama, so I got to skip school. When I woke up in the morning Nico came to my room with a bowl of cereal because he wanted to give me breakfast in bed. After that I skyped with my Danish family. Then I opened all my presents. The days up to my birthday I had got quite a few letters and packages sent from Denmark. I got Pirtatos(black licorice), a Danish CD, knitted socks from my grandmother and other Danish things. From my host parents I got a purse from Vera Bradley. Then we went to see Obama(I will write about that in my next post). After that we went to 'Big Fat Cupcake' and bought birthday cupcakes. In the evening Sara and Brian had invited me out to eat. We went to a Chinese restaurant with habaji which is where the cook is cooking the food in front of you. The cook was so funny and made Nico and I laugh all the time! The servers gave us dessert and sang birthday song for me(that is very common here)! It was an amazing birthday that I will never forget!

In the school's newspaper

The Script concert!

Tuesday night Selina and I went to Denver to see the band The Script! It was a small concert so we was standing really close to the stage. It was awesome and we had so much fun!

The Broadmore Hotel

Chokolade fondue..mmh...
Foedselsdagspigen noed vist opholdet!

The wild Louisiana

Saturday we left Dallas and drove to Louisiana where Sara's dad(pap pap) and his wife(Ginger) lives. They live far, far out in the country! They have three horses, 6 hens and a Rooster and 11 dogs!! In the beginning it was a bit overwhelming with all the dogs running around me and licking my legs. I am happy that we only have two dogs. Those two crazy dogs are enough for me! I was supposed to remember all the names of the animals when we went home.. I almost remembered them all but I have to admit that I got a little help from Nico.

Sunday we visited a kind of zoo with alligators and other animals we could feed. I was a bit scared because I really don't like alligators! In the Danish zoo there is only two small alligators, there is a very tall fence and it is forbidden to put your fingers on the fence. In this zoo you walked on a bridge right over the water where tons of alligators was swimming around and then you could feed them!! The alligators could easily have jumped up and bite off our fingers. I also tried to hold a 4 years old baby alligator.

Monday was just a very relaxing day! Brian was building a new chicken coop, that Sara named 'Le Poulet Charlet'.
Tuesday we left Nico with Ginger, pap pap and all the animals and then Sara, Brian and I drove down to New Orleans.

Road trip to the south.

All the snacks we had for the drive
Wednesday after school it was time for our fall road trip to the South! The first day(Wednesday) we drove through Kansas and after 9 hours of driving we ended up on a hotel half way through Oklahoma. That day I could ad two states to my list of states I have been to.
The next morning we drove to Texas and by noon we were in Dallas where we visited Sara's good friend Janet who made some good barbecue!
After that we went to the hotel where I met Sara's dad and his wife Ginger. Then we went to the rehearsal dinner. The next day(Friday) was the big wedding day!(Sara's youngest brother's wedding)
The bride's dad is a police officer in Dallas, so he took Nico, Brian, Saraand me to the police station and showed us around! It was really cool and I don't think I have seen that many police cars at once..!

Then we had to get ready for the wedding. It wasn't a very traditional wedding. The wedding was hold on a bar with a pretty view of Dallas skyline. The dinner was barbeque which is is the food that Texas is known for. Then there was a big cookie table with lots of homemade cookies. It was yummy! The wedding cake was not one big cake, it was cupcakes. So instead of cutting the first piece of the cake, the bride and groom cut a cupcake in half and smashed it in to each others face! It was really fun!Me and Nico danced all night! It is a tradition in Sara's family to dance "The Chicken Dance", so of course we did that. I have never seen that many dressed up people dance like chickens. Even the bride did it! ;)
Saturday we drove to Louisiana to visit Sara's dad and Ginger. I will write more about that in the next post.

Wearing PJ's in King Soopers

Last week I wanted to do something
I would never do in Denmark. So I went with my family to the grocery store, King Soopers. Only a few people looked at me like I was a weirdo... But if I went to Føtex in Denmark in Pyjamas, a lot of people would have thought I was crazy and they would probably stare! I would never do it in Denmark, but here in the US it was just fun!!

First debate tournament

Now it is around two weeks ago. My debate partner Pierce(junior) and I had been working on our case for around two weeks. I was very nervous! We had three debates and that tournament was only for novice. But I was nervous anyway.
In a debate there is two teams and a judge. Each of the four debaters give a 4 min. speech and in between there is crossfire where the debaters can ask each other questions. A fun thing about debating is that you have to dress nice. I think Pierce and I did good even though we only won one debate out of three...
I wish we had debate tournaments in Denmark!!

Rock climbing at Rock'n and Jam'n

Idag tog jeg med min rock climbing-class til et sted med meget høje og sjove klatrevægge! Det var sjovt, hårdt og lidt skræmmende at være så højt oppe! Jeg klatrede sammen med en sød pige der hedder Ixchel (se billedet).

"BOOO!"

A few days ago I was sitting and doing my homework, when the doorbell rang. I opened the door, but no one was out there.. On the doorstep there was a bowl of candy and a piece of paper that said "BOO!" We had been "booed". It is a tradition for Halloween where the neighbors Boo each other. When you have been booed you have to put the boo-sign on your front door and then you have to boo two other neighbors that haven't been booed yet. But you have to do it when it's dark and you have to be fast so the neighbor don't se you!
I think Nico did a pretty good job for our booing!
